#MASS RENAME XREFS UPDATE#
You can update blocks like title blocks including their attributes with new ones. You can Unload or Detach xrefs or change their name, file name or path. You can flatten all your drawing objects by setting all Z coordinates to 0. You can convert all your inserted blocks from dynamic to static, or to anonymous blocks. You can for example change color and layer of all entities or specific entities like tex, mtext, dimensions. You can change all texts whose styles are not prefixed with "ELEC" to "ELEC Standard" style, then change all block's attributes whose tag is "DATE" to current date. You can replace all inserted blocks "DOOR-BD3" in layer "Archs" with block "DOOR-AC1", and move them to layer "ARCH-FURN" You can import and update all blocks from a standard drawing to hundreds of other drawings.

With Batch Find and Replace you can find and replace text on multiple drawings. With Batch Rename Objects you can rename layers in hundreds of drawing by substituting text "Concrete" with "CONC", or add a prefix of "AC " to each layer's name

The basic operations in renaming a block is simple, just enter REN and press Enter to open the dialog box, and select the category that you want to rename on the left, select the items that you want to modify on the right of the dialog box, and then enter a new name, as shown in the following picture.JTB Batch Change brings the AutoCAD ActiveX Object Model to your command via Excel design spreadsheets. The following paragraphs are to introduce some ways to rename blocks. If there are too many blocks with the same names, it would be troublesome to find the ones with different definitions, we might as well rename them all. But this is hard to do and there will still be blocks with same names but different definitions. The best way to solve this problem is to let these blocks have the same definitions.

When we copy and paste drawings containing blocks with the same names as the ones in the current drawings, the pasted blocks will be replaced by the blocks in the current drawings and therefore the pasted drawings will be different. When faced with tons of drawings and data, we all want to have some kind of useful tool that can deal with them altogether and that’s why people use batch commands and utilities a lot.
