Ensure department adherence to all safety requirements and protocols, including food safety, per TFM policies, and per law.Enforce and follow department practices regarding receiving, stocking, and the unloading deliveries of product to ensure freshness and quality including but not limited to case, coolers, freezers, and sales floor.Monitor temperature of cases, spill overs, and storage areas.Handle, slice, expertly cut and trim a variety of the department’s prime and premium meat and seafood products, and items for our convenient meal solutions throughout the day, while also managing quality product levels as indicated within TFM standards.Maintain knowledge of products/weekly ad items throughout the store and work across departments to assist guests in finding products and complete meal solutions.You will also assist with department inventory, pricing integrity, merchandising, and other operational processes to provide the best product and excellent service at the right time for our guests and to drive sales. I have been associated with three TFM stores. Finally, if you like overall cleanliness, don't apply. So, if you like taking two hour lunches for being helpful, TFM is your place. Remember that when they ask you to stay another hour or two, you are not rewarded with overtime but instead awarded with having to take extra long lunches so as not to get overtime. Be prepared to work extra hard because those lousy workers are pampered and management knows that they can count on you to take up their slack or call outs. Take care of yourself because they have no interest in you. I know one person who has done twelve days and management said that there was a choice-shut up or have your hours cut. Nag about the promised raise, persist that you are still waiting for direct deposit, be aware of your vacation days because they may disappear, constant late evaluations, many times have to work a six to seven day shifts. You have to be on your game, working at TFM. Point is they will appoint any who walks in off the street, to a management position, whether they are experienced or not. Statistics show that the average manager lasts less than two years before being fired. My store has gone through six store managers, many more assistant managers and countless department managers in the two years I have been employed. Amazing when you consider that this person has only been employed at The Fresh Markert for less than eight months. For instance, a person with no grocery experience has just been awarded his/her own store. The employees are fantastic but are shackled by the quality and selection of the management team. Could be a fantastic place to work if it were employee owned.
